Web Design Templates : Inspiring, Buying, Cheating
Feb
In the world of web design, many companies cheat and sell you a template, making you think they made the design. A template is a readymade design that you can install on your CMS (Content Management System) or just any website.
Examples of templates here : www.templatemonster.com
Now if I always thought it's good inspiration, I always thought that they are also used to cheat, and thus in several manners :
- Say you are a client : the web designer make you think he designed the website, while in fact he just downloaded it!
- Say you are the CEO of a web design company : the web designer make you think he designed the website, while in fact he just downloaded it! (but you have to be a ceo closed in an office, because most part of the time, you assist to the creation process ;)
- Say you are a webmaster, and don't have the money, skills or time for making a design, you go for a template : but then you buy it online, and there is this buyout option, where you pay the design 2500 dollars, so that they take it out.
That's what I hate :
1- They take it out the day you buy it, but what about people who bought it before you! Would you pay 2500 dollars for a none original web design?!
2- Very often, they just don't put it out of the website. And When you ask them too, they ignore your emails! So they keep selling it.
3- They take us for assh****, how do they want us to believe them if you can find the same template, on several websites! you want a proof? check this two images below. One is from template monster, and the other is from templates hunt (and i checked the whois database, it's not the same company) :

and

YES, THEY SELL YOU THE VERY SAME TEMPLATE!
So, templates are great for inspiration, but bad for business...
Disclaimer : there must be some honest folks out there selling their own created web design, post it in the comments section if you know some.
